Village on the Avenue  was founded in 2026 by Reverend Dr. Kendrick and Reverend Karen Curry of Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church. They believe it is the church's call to care for people from their first breath to their last breath.

 

Typically, churches provide episodic assistance to communities through programs like food banks or clothing drives. The Currys felt a calling to cultivate a community that supports each other in a more ongoing, integrated way. The Village model, used throughout DC and across the nation, is how they chose to accomplish it.
